Live Cameras Around Arrowhead Stadium
Monitor real-time traffic on I-70, I-435, and Blue Ridge Cutoff before a Kansas City Chiefs game, a FIFA World Cup 2026 match, or any event at the Truman Sports Complex. The Chiefs themselves tell fans to watch the cameras — here they are. Free 24/7.
VIEW ARROWHEAD CAMERAS →GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium opened in August 1972 as half of the Truman Sports Complex — built simultaneously with Kauffman Stadium next door, the two sharing 26,000 parking spaces. It has been the Chiefs' home for over five decades, holds the Guinness record for the loudest stadium at 142.2 decibels (set 29 September 2014 against New England), and hosts six 2026 FIFA World Cup matches: four group-stage games, a Round of 32, and a quarterfinal.
One thing that makes this venue unusual to write about: the Chiefs' own fan guidance tells people to check traffic cameras. Their official information points fans to the KC Scout camera network to track conditions and MoDOT construction before setting off. That's the exact use case this page exists for.
TrafficVision aggregates live camera feeds from MoDOT and the KC Scout network covering I-70, I-435, and the Truman Sports Complex approaches. All 1,000+ Missouri cameras are free to view, no account required.
The 2027 I-70 Closure — Plan Around This
This is the single most important thing to know about driving to Arrowhead in the next few years. MoDOT is closing Interstate 70 in Kansas City for eleven months — from January 2027 until December 2027 — between Prospect Avenue and Van Brunt Boulevard.
MoDOT names the venue directly in its guidance: for travel between downtown Kansas City and the Truman Sports Complex area (and vice versa), the recommendation is to seek an alternative route such as I-35 and I-435 to the north, or US-71 and I-435 to the south. Through-traffic detours to I-435 and I-470 south.
That closure runs straight through the 2027 Chiefs season. If you're planning any trip to Arrowhead in 2027, the I-70 route you're used to will not be available.
Approach Corridors to Arrowhead
I-70
The primary approach cams
I-70 runs directly past the Truman Sports Complex and is the main route from downtown Kansas City and points east. Closing entirely between Prospect Ave and Van Brunt Blvd for eleven months in 2027.
I-435
The orbital approach cams
I-435 meets I-70 at the interchange serving the complex. It becomes the primary route during the 2027 I-70 closure — MoDOT's recommended detour pairs it with I-35 to the north or US-71 to the south.
Blue Ridge Cutoff
Complex entry cams
Gates 1 through 4 open off Blue Ridge Cutoff. Rideshare drop-off and pickup is at the Missouri Welcome Center between Gates 1 and 2.
Downtown KC connections
Strategic approach cams
I-35 and US-71 connect downtown Kansas City to the I-435 orbital — the detour spine for 2027 and a useful alternative any time I-70 is congested.
Chiefs Game-Day Traffic Pattern
Parking lots open 4.5 hours before kickoff unless otherwise communicated. Interior traffic in the complex flows counter-clockwise, which means the tollgate you enter plus your pass type determines which lot you end up in — you can't freely pick once you're inside.
The Chiefs' own published guidance is blunt about the timing:
- Fans should expect heavy delays due to rush hour traffic on I-435 and I-70, as well as the streets around the Truman Sports Complex
- Fans are asked to plan in advance and arrive several hours before kickoff to avoid rush hour and minimize delays
- Drivers who are not going to the game but normally travel past the complex are advised to identify an alternate route
That last point is worth sitting with — the Chiefs are telling non-attendees to reroute their normal commute. On a Friday-night or Monday-night fixture, the rush-hour overlap is the whole problem.
Other practical rules: cash is not accepted at the toll booths (prepay via Ticketmaster), and guests may not remain in the parking lots or outside the stadium during games.

Transit options at Arrowhead are limited compared with urban NFL venues. The Chiefs point fans to RideKC's 47 Broadway line as the bus option to the stadium.
For most attendees, driving or rideshare is the practical choice — which is exactly why the parking rules and the I-70 situation matter so much here. Rideshare drop-off and pickup is at the Missouri Welcome Center, located between Gates 1 and 2 on Blue Ridge Cutoff.

BUILD YOUR ROUTE →FIFA World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead
Arrowhead hosts six 2026 FIFA World Cup matches — four group-stage games, a Round of 32 fixture, and a quarterfinal — at a tournament capacity of 69,045.
World Cup traffic will differ from a Chiefs Sunday: international fans arriving via Kansas City International rather than driving in from across Missouri and Kansas, security perimeters changing complex access, and any weekday matches overlapping with the same I-435 and I-70 rush-hour problem the Chiefs already warn about.
For tournament-specific coverage, see the Kansas City World Cup traffic cameras guide.
Kauffman Stadium Overlap
The Truman Sports Complex houses both Arrowhead and Kauffman Stadium, home of the Royals, sharing 26,000 parking spaces between them. When the Royals have a home game overlapping with a Chiefs fixture or a major Arrowhead event, the complex absorbs traffic for two simultaneous venues through the same Blue Ridge Cutoff gates.
The MLB and NFL seasons overlap in September and early October, which is exactly when the Chiefs are playing early-season home games. Worth a camera check.
Weather and Season Timing
Chiefs home games span September through January, and Kansas City delivers the full range — late-summer heat and humidity in September, then cold, ice, and snow by December and January playoff football. Arrowhead's open bowl offers no protection, and winter conditions reduce the effective capacity of I-70 and I-435 substantially.
The live camera feeds show current road-surface conditions in real time — which is the Chiefs' own recommendation, not just ours.
