Storrow Drive westbound from Leverett Circle to Kenmore Square (Bowker Overpass) closes to vehicular traffic, Storrow eastbound is detoured at the Bowker Overpass, and Memorial Drive on the Cambridge side closes between the Longfellow and BU Bridges for pedestrian viewing.

The simplest MBTA approaches: Red Line to Charles/MGH for the eastern Esplanade and Longfellow Bridge, Red Line to Kendall/MIT for Memorial Drive on the Cambridge side, Green Line to Arlington or Hynes for the Hatch Shell Oval entry queues, and Red Line to Park Street with a walk over Beacon Hill for the central Esplanade. Public access to the Oval lawn opens at noon, and lines for security screening start building well before that.
