The Kia Forum opened on December 30, 1967 and is one of the most recognizable buildings in Los Angeles: a round, cable-suspended structure roughly 407 feet across, designed to evoke a Roman coliseum. Announcer Chick Hearn nicknamed it "The Fabulous Forum." It was home to the Lakers and Kings from 1967 until 1999, and it has spent the decades since as one of the busiest concert and live-music arenas in the country, hosting long residencies (Prince ran 21 shows here starting in 2011) alongside championship boxing and other events.

Most people still search for it as "The Forum." The building carried that name through two eras before Kia acquired the naming rights on April 4, 2022 (Wikipedia). It sits at 3900 West Manchester Boulevard, inside the same Inglewood entertainment district as SoFi Stadium and the Intuit Dome. Steve Ballmer bought the Forum property in March 2020 for $400 million, and also owns the Clippers and their nearby Intuit Dome arena, so the three venues now anchor one dense stretch of Inglewood.

Approach Corridors to the Kia Forum

I-405 San Diego Freeway

Live cams along the primary Westside interstate

The I-405 is the main approach from most of Los Angeles. The Manchester Boulevard exit is the closest to the Forum. A 2019 Federal Highway Administration study ranked the 405's interchanges with SR 73 and the I-105 to Manchester Avenue as the 7th most congested bottleneck in the United States, which is the exact stretch feeding this arena.

I-105 Century Freeway

Cameras on the I-105 corridor

The I-105 runs east-west just south of the Inglewood district and is the primary approach from the eastern LA basin and Orange County. The Prairie Avenue exit connects north toward the Forum and the surrounding Hollywood Park streets.

Manchester Boulevard

Feeds along the arena's front-door arterial

Manchester Boulevard runs directly past the Forum's main entrance and parking. It is the corridor that absorbs almost every arriving and departing vehicle, and it congests heavily in the two hours before doors and again at the end of a show.

Prairie Avenue and Pincay Drive

Inglewood approach and parking-access cams

Prairie Avenue is the main north-south route past the venue; Pincay Drive, Kareem Court, and West Way ring the parking areas. These streets carry the shared load of the Forum, SoFi, and the Intuit Dome when events overlap.

The Inglewood district is one of the densest event-venue clusters in North America. When a Forum concert coincides with a Rams or Chargers game at SoFi or a Clippers game at the Intuit Dome, the shared surface streets and the I-405 and I-105 ramps carry all of it at once. Checking the live cameras before you leave is the difference between a smooth arrival and an hour on Manchester Boulevard.

Concert-Night Traffic Pattern

Unlike a fixed-schedule NFL stadium, the Forum's calendar is concerts and fights, which means later start times and a heavier overlap with the weekday commute. Los Angeles drivers lost 88 hours to congestion in 2024, ranking the metro 3rd most congested in the United States and 8th in the world, according to the INRIX 2024 Global Traffic Scorecard. A typical weeknight arena show layers directly onto that baseline. The pattern for an 8:00 PM doors-open show:

  • T-minus 3 hours (roughly 5:00 PM): Parking opens (most events open three hours before start, per the Forum's parking page). This coincides with the I-405 and I-105 evening peak.
  • T-minus 90 minutes: Peak inbound. Manchester Boulevard backs up past the I-405 ramps; Prairie Avenue slows from the I-105.
  • T-minus 30 minutes: Manchester and the lot-access streets gridlock. The Forum requires guests to be inside or gone within 30 minutes of the event start, so late arrivals compress into a tight window.
  • Post-show: Peak outbound as 18,000 people leave at once onto Manchester and Prairie, feeding back to the I-405 and I-105. Dispersal runs well over an hour on a sold-out night.

Parking and Getting There

Parking at the Forum is prepaid through JustPark, the venue's official partner, and the lots are cashless. Lots open about three hours before the event and close one hour after it ends. Overnight parking is not allowed, and the venue enforces a strict "no tailgating of any kind" rule, with guests required to enter the arena or leave the lot within 30 minutes of the start. Larger vehicles over 18 feet long or 9 feet wide are charged extra. All of this comes from the Forum's own parking page; rates vary by event.

Every lot empties onto Manchester Boulevard or Prairie Avenue, which is why the two arterials define the post-event experience. If you are driving, watch those two cameras first.

Transit: the Metro K Line

The Kia Forum is one of the better-connected arenas in the Inglewood district. The LA Metro K Line serves the Downtown Inglewood station, a short distance from the Forum, and the Metro Local 212 bus also runs through the area (Wikipedia). Downtown Inglewood is the same K Line station used by fans headed to the Intuit Dome, and it is a more practical rail option for the Forum than for SoFi, whose nearest K Line stop is the Westchester/Veterans station farther west.

Given how tightly the parking lots meter arrivals and clear the streets, transit is often the path of least resistance for a sold-out concert night. The Inglewood Transit Connector, an automated people mover intended to link the K Line directly into the venue district, is under construction and not yet operational.

Boxing, Concerts, and "The Forum"

The Forum's traffic profile changes with the event type. Championship boxing cards draw a later, denser arrival curve than a mid-week concert, with more rideshare and more last-minute arrivals hitting Manchester Boulevard inside the final half hour. Multi-night residencies concentrate repeat traffic on the same corridors across consecutive evenings. Because so many visitors still know the building as "The Forum" rather than the Kia Forum, first-time navigation errors are common: the arena is on Manchester Boulevard, not adjacent to SoFi's stadium drive, even though the two sit in the same district.

Weather and Timing

Los Angeles weather is mild for most of the concert calendar, which removes the cold-weather traffic risk that Northeast venues face. The exception is winter rain. The majority of weather-related crashes occur during rainfall and on wet pavement, according to the Federal Highway Administration, and a Pacific storm system reduces the effective capacity of the I-405 and I-105 while raising incident rates on the ramps into Inglewood. The live camera feeds show current road-surface conditions in real time, which is more useful than a forecast when you are timing your departure.

Are there live traffic cameras near the Kia Forum?

Yes. TrafficVision.Live aggregates feeds from Caltrans and the Los Angeles municipal networks covering I-405 via the Manchester Boulevard exit, I-105 via Prairie Avenue, and the Inglewood surface streets around the arena. All 2,200+ California cameras are free to view with no account required.

Which freeway exit is closest to the Kia Forum?

The Manchester Boulevard exit off the I-405 (San Diego Freeway) is the closest, and Manchester runs directly past the arena's entrance. From the south and east, the I-105 (Century Freeway) via the Prairie Avenue exit is the standard approach. The 2019 Federal Highway Administration bottleneck study ranked the 405's interchange with the I-105 to Manchester Avenue as the 7th most congested in the country, so watch those cameras before you drive.

How do I get to the Kia Forum on public transit?

The LA Metro K Line serves the Downtown Inglewood station a short distance from the arena, and the Metro Local 212 bus runs through the area. Downtown Inglewood is the same K Line station used by fans headed to the Intuit Dome, and it is a more practical rail option for the Forum than for SoFi Stadium, whose nearest K Line stop is farther west at Westchester/Veterans.

What is the parking situation at the Kia Forum?

Parking is prepaid through JustPark, the venue's official partner, and the lots are cashless. They open about three hours before the event and close one hour after it ends, with no overnight parking and no tailgating of any kind. Guests must be inside the arena or out of the lot within 30 minutes of the start. Every lot empties onto Manchester Boulevard or Prairie Avenue, which is why those two corridors define the post-event traffic.

Is the Kia Forum the same as "The Forum"?

Yes. The building opened in 1967 as "The Forum" and was nicknamed "The Fabulous Forum." It has also been the Great Western Forum and the Forum presented by Chase; Kia acquired the naming rights on April 4, 2022. It sits at 3900 West Manchester Boulevard in Inglewood, in the same district as SoFi Stadium and the Intuit Dome, but it is a separate arena on Manchester Boulevard, not part of the SoFi complex.
