The Moscone Center anchors San Francisco's SoMa convention district across three connected buildings on a 20-acre campus. Moscone South opened in 1981, North followed in 1991, and West in 2003, before a $551 million expansion completed in 2018 added roughly 500,000 square feet of new space, more than 80 flexible meeting rooms, and a 50,000-square-foot grand ballroom (TSNN). North and South together hold about 504,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space, with West adding another 290,000-plus square feet (Wikipedia). The city owns the complex, and Legends Global runs day-to-day operations.

Approach Corridors to the Moscone Center

Interstate 80

Bay Bridge approach cams

I-80 carries traffic from the East Bay across the Bay Bridge into downtown San Francisco, with the Fremont Street exit the standard route into SoMa and the Moscone campus.

Howard Street

Convention Center frontage cams

Howard Street runs along the venue's front entrance and is the street Dreamforce closes outright between 3rd and 4th during the conference.

Third and Fourth Streets

SoMa cross-streets cams

Third and Fourth Streets frame the Moscone campus and carry the heaviest local congestion during major show move-in and move-out days.

Fifth Street

Downtown connector cams

Fifth Street links the Moscone district to Market Street and downtown, and is one of the corridors SFMTA specifically flags for heavy congestion during major events.

Dreamforce: San Francisco's Biggest Tech Week

Dreamforce, Salesforce's flagship conference, is the marquee event at Moscone. The 2025 edition ran October 13-16, drawing more than 30,000 in-person attendees to downtown and SoMa, according to Axios (Axios). SFMTA's own Dreamforce advisory sets expectations plainly: "Expect high demand to and from SFO at the beginning and end of the event, with high demand for trips around town during the event," and separately warns of significant traffic congestion on streets east of 3rd Street, Mason Street between Sutter and Market, and 5th Street between Market and Harrison (SFMTA).

For the 2025 show, Howard Street between 3rd and 4th closed to all traffic around the clock from October 5-19, while 4th Street between Mission and Howard saw a daytime closure (6 a.m.-8 p.m.) October 13-16, alongside southbound restrictions on several nearby streets and local-access-only zones on Ellis, Stockton, Minna, and parts of 4th and Howard. Temporary rideshare pickup and drop-off zones were set up at the W Hotel, the InterContinental, and along South Howard Street (SFMTA).

Beyond Dreamforce, the Game Developers Conference (GDC) runs every March โ€” the 2026 edition, rebranded "GDC Festival of Gaming," runs March 9-13 (Moscone Center).

Getting There Without a Car

The Yerba Buena/Moscone Muni Metro station sits at the campus's southwest corner, the closest stop of all at about a 4-minute walk. Powell Street station (BART and Muni) serves Moscone West, about a 7-minute walk, while Montgomery Street station (also BART and Muni) serves North and South (Moscone Center). BART runs a direct line from SFO with no transfer required, making transit the more predictable option during a major conference week when SoMa's surface streets are congested or partially closed.

Parking

Moscone Center does not have on-site parking. The venue's own guidance states this explicitly and points visitors to the more than 7,000 parking spaces spread across publicly owned garages surrounding the center, without naming individual facilities or rates (Moscone Center). Given the lack of a dedicated venue garage and SoMa's frequent event-week closures, transit is the more reliable plan on the busiest conference days.
