Music City Center opened in May 2013 at a construction cost of $623 million, designed by tvsdesign with Tuck-Hinton Architects and Moody Nolan (Wikipedia). At 2.1 million square feet, including more than 350,000 square feet of exhibit hall space, 60 meeting rooms, and two ballrooms, it's owned by the City of Nashville and run by the Nashville Convention Center Authority. Since opening, the venue has hosted more than 2,654 events with a cumulative 5.1 million attendees and an estimated $4.4 billion in direct economic impact.

Fan Fair X and CMA Fest's Downtown Impact

Music City Center hosts Fan Fair X, CMA Fest's official fan-experience programming, across more than 173,000 square feet of air-conditioned space, with the CMA Close Up Stage, artist panels, acoustic performances, and meet-and-greets (CMA World). For CMA Fest 2026, downtown road closures began May 29 and ran through June 9, with Rep. John Lewis Way South, the street Music City Center sits on, closed between Demonbreun Street and Broadway from 6 a.m. May 31 through June 8 (WKRN). WeGo also ran a special event train on June 6 from Lebanon into downtown for the Nissan Stadium concert, and Music City Center's own garage was named one of the "reliable" parking options during the festival.

Beyond CMA Fest, the venue's calendar has included the NRA Annual Meeting, the Americana Music Festival & Conference, the NFL Draft, the National High School Finals Rodeo, and the Southern Baptist Convention.

An Underground Transit Project Is Coming

In July 2025, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and The Boring Company announced the "Music City Loop," an underground transit project that includes a planned station beneath Music City Center itself, with the first phase targeted for late 2026 or early 2027 (Tennessee Governor's Office). If it opens on schedule, it would give the venue a direct underground transit connection in addition to its current WeGo bus service.

Parking

Music City Center's own garage holds 1,800 spaces across three covered levels, billed as the largest covered parking garage in downtown Nashville. Effective rates as of June 2025 run $15 for up to 5 hours, $20 for up to 9 hours, $25 for up to 12 hours, $30 for up to 18 hours, and $45 for overnight, with 12 ChargePoint EV stations and ADA parking on every level (Music City Center). There are no in-and-out privileges, and trailers aren't permitted.

Getting There by Air

Nashville International Airport (BNA) sits about 8 miles away, roughly a 10-minute drive. WeGo also runs an hourly bus from the airport to downtown for $2, taking about 23 minutes.
