Outer Banks Beach Cams (OBX Beach Cam)

The Outer Banks (OBX) is a chain of narrow North Carolina barrier islands stretching more than 100 miles from Corolla in the north to Ocracoke in the south. The islands separate the Atlantic Ocean from Currituck, Albemarle and Pamlico sounds, giving many beaches surf on one side and calm sound water a short distance away. Cape Hatteras is the elbow of the Outer Banks where the coastline turns sharply, creating Diamond Shoals, the shifting sandbars long known as the Graveyard of the Atlantic. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, at 198 feet the tallest brick lighthouse in the United States, was famously moved 2,900 feet inland in 1999 to escape shoreline erosion. Getting There & Road Conditions

Most Outer Banks visitors arrive on US-158 across the Wright Memorial Bridge, then continue on NC-12, the two-lane road that runs the length of the islands and is the only route onto Hatteras Island. During hurricane season, June 1 through November 30, NC-12 can close for storm overwash.
