When a major event like Super Bowl Experience takes over the Convention Center, Louisiana DOTD has managed traffic with targeted local closures rather than shutting down the interstate. For the 2025 Super Bowl Experience, DOTD closed the riverbound Calliope Street frontage road between Magazine Street and Annunciation Street from February 5 through the night of February 8, while explicitly keeping the Pontchartrain Expressway and Crescent City Connection open to through traffic the entire time (Louisiana DOTD). "DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the work zone and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment," the department noted in its advisory.
