Live Cameras Around Michigan Stadium
Monitor real-time traffic on I-94, US-23, and the South Main Street approaches before a Michigan Wolverines home game at the largest stadium in the United States. Free live feeds from Michigan's road network, refreshed 24/7.
VIEW BIG HOUSE CAMERAS →Michigan Stadium opened on 1 October 1927 and is, by a comfortable margin, the largest stadium in the United States and the Western Hemisphere — third-largest in the world. Listed capacity is 107,601; the record crowd of 115,109 came against Notre Dame on 7 September 2013. If that sounds like the record exceeds the capacity, it does: The Big House routinely and officially seats several thousand more than its listed number.
The 2014 NHL Winter Classic here drew 105,491 for Toronto vs Detroit — an NHL attendance record.
TrafficVision aggregates live camera feeds from MDOT and Mi Drive covering I-94, US-23, and M-14. All 1,200+ Michigan cameras are free to view, no account required.
The Vehicle-Free Zone
The City of Ann Arbor closes several streets to create a vehicle-free zone around Michigan Stadium, in effect from three hours before a home game until the game ends:
- East Keech Street — between South Main and Greene
- The westbound right turn from East Stadium Boulevard onto South Main
- South Main Street — both directions, Stadium Boulevard to Pauline
- Greene Street — East Hoover to Keech, limited to permit holders
One exception worth noting: southbound South Main closes 1 hour prior, not three.
On-street parking restrictions are enforced 8am to midnight on game days in designated stadium zones, with towing. The city's events hotline is 734.794.6444.
Approach Corridors to Michigan Stadium
I-94
The primary Detroit-side approach cams
The main route from Metro Detroit and the airport. MDOT has a $353 million reconstruction underway between Wayne Road (Romulus) and Michigan Avenue (Dearborn) — directly on the Detroit-to-Ann Arbor route.
US-23
The northern and southern approach cams
The route from Toledo to the south and Flint to the north, connecting into Ann Arbor's east side.
M-14
The western connector cams
Links Ann Arbor to I-96 and the northwest. Note ongoing westbound M-14/I-96 lane reductions near Newburgh Road running through late 2026.
South Main Street and East Stadium Boulevard
The stadium approach cams
The immediate local arterials — and the ones that close. South Main shuts in both directions from Stadium Blvd to Pauline, three hours before kickoff.
Parking: The Golf Course Is Real
Michigan's official game-day paid parking list genuinely includes two golf courses:
- U-M Golf Course — Main Street and State Street entrances
- Ann Arbor Golf & Outing — Main Street and Stadium Blvd entrances
Other paid lots: Pioneer Lot (no RVs), Green Lot at Stadium Blvd (accessible), Hill Street Structure, Brown Lot, Maize Lot, and Triangle Lot (accessible, state placard required).
Pre-paid pass lots: Blue Lot and Blue Lot RV, Champions East, Champions North, Grey Lot (State St entrance), and Buffalo Lot.
Rules that catch people out:
- No overnight parking in any U-M game-day lot
- Vehicles must vacate within two hours after the game ends, or be towed
- RV passes cover four marked spaces only — equipment can't cross painted lines or block roadways

AAATA (TheRide) runs the FootballRide shuttle at $1.50 one-way, roughly every 20 minutes starting two hours before kickoff (or 1pm), with the last shuttles leaving 30 minutes before kickoff. It drops at Gate 2 and serves hotels, U-M parking structures and lots, the Michigan Union, and downtown Ann Arbor.
U-M's Division of Public Safety and Security has also partnered with Waze to route fans to game-day parking and around road closures, and updates lot-availability status as lots fill.

BUILD YOUR ROUTE →What Michigan Stadium Doesn't Host
Worth clearing up, because it gets conflated: Michigan won the 2023-season national championship on 8 January 2024, beating Washington 34-13 to finish 15-0 — their first title since 1997 and first outright since 1948. But that game was played at NRG Stadium in Houston, not at Michigan Stadium. It's a Wolverines fact, not a Big House fact.
The College Football Playoff National Championship rotates among neutral sites. Michigan Stadium's own calendar is Wolverines home games, plus field hockey, lacrosse, graduation ceremonies, and the occasional special event like the 2014 Winter Classic.
Weather and Season Timing
Michigan's season runs September through late November, and Ann Arbor delivers the full spread — warm early-season Saturdays, then genuinely cold November football with the Ohio State game traditionally closing the home schedule. The Big House is an open bowl dug into the ground with no roof and no protection.
Snow and ice on I-94 and US-23 reduce the effective capacity of both substantially, and MDOT's active I-94 reconstruction between Romulus and Dearborn compounds it for anyone driving from Metro Detroit. The live camera feeds show current road-surface conditions in real time.
